The problem
Secondary research revealed the majority of users - patients with Alzheimer's and Dementia and carers- were participating in research studies recommended by healthcare professionals instead of signing up directly on the platform because users were overwhelmed with unnecessary information on landing pages and confused by the hierarchy.
Additionally, the main navigation confused volunteers and researchers, which stakeholders decided wasn't the priority. The signup form was sitting at many places and difficult to distinguish between volunteers with Alzheimer's and carers regardless of the fact Ana suggested having - 'I am a volunteer with Alzheimer' and 'I am a carer' - stakeholders decided to keep the same. An increase in mobile users revealed by the data analytics (GA) the website wasn't working well on mobile responsive.
From a UI perspective, the JDR website did not follow the NHS guidelines or consider the accessibility best practices, and the colour palette did not appeal to masculine users.

The constraints
To get the desired outcome and overcome the engineering constraints, working with different WordPress frameworks within the same user journey made Ana create components to sit across the landing pages and the voluntaries dashboard.

The challenge
Dealing with indecisive stakeholders during this project was Ana's challenge, as they changed their minds at every meeting, which made Ana send a summary email with what was discussed and agreed upon at each meeting, started the follow-up meeting with the same summary as a reminder and by the end of the project, regardless of the stakeholder's involvement at all design phases, they still were pretty indecisive between 2 similar mockups, which made Ana suggested user testing for the users and her benefit.
